Acting Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Matlab Alnafiesah, honored the National Company for Training & Education Technologies, which is the national operator of the Cambridge International Certificate in IT Skills and its tests in the Kingdom, for co-sponsoring the Third International Conference of e-Learning and Distance Education. This conference was held on the fourth of February under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz. The conference theme was “E-Learning: From Practice to Performance.” Dr. Omar Basudan, Executive Director of the National Company for Training & Education Technologies, accepted the honorary shield from his Excellence, in recognition of the company's role in supporting this conference. Dr. Basudan pointed out that this sponsorship comes in the context of the partnership between the National Company for Training & Education Technologies and the many public sector organizations, particularly the Ministry of Higher Education, the organizer of this conference. He also pointed out to the importance of this conference, which is an essential platform to highlight the importance of quality in promoting competitive characteristics and in upgrading e-learning and distance education in the Arab world. Basudan indicated that e-learning currently represents one of the most prominent foundations supporting the overall development process and the shift towards an integrated
society based on knowledge in the Arab world. He alluded to what the Kingdom has witnessed recently in terms of growing trend toward the adoption of the e-learning concept and in response to the rapid changes and developments taking place in the world in the field of information technology.
